Professor Weikang Jiang led his team members: Dr. Haibin Zhang, Dr. Haijun Wu, Dr. Wenbo Lu and Dr. Yilin Zhang, in attending the Inter-Noise 2011 held in Osaka, Japan from Sept. 4, 2011 – Sept.9, 2011. During the session, they exchanged with the scholars from various countries on the latest research progress of noise control.

The Inter-Noise 2011 – The 40th International Congress on Exposition and Noise Control Engineering, was co-sponsored by the International Institute of Noise Control Engineering (I-Ince), Institute of Noise Control Engineering of Japan (Ince/J) and Acoustical Society of Japan (ASJ). The congress theme was ‘Sound Environment as A Global Issue’, focusing on the latest developments of noise and vibration control engineering and technology, along with a wide range of exhibitions of noise and vibration control technologies. Prof. Jiang, invited by the congress organizing committee, served as the chairman for the special topic of ‘Sound field visualization’.

The four group members then performed their presentations: ‘Procedures of the Nearfield Acoustic Holography Based on the Inverse Fast Multipole Boundary Element Method’，’Analyzing acoustic radiation modes using the fast multipole boundary element method’，’Machinery fault diagnosis based on near field acoustic holography (NAH) and gray level gradient co-occurrence matrix (GLGCM)’，and ’The study of the sound radiation from double cylindrical shells with rigid ribs underwater’. They also made a lot of academic exchanges with the domestic and foreign peer researchers. In the meanwhile, they have also visited the Kyoto University.
