Dr. Yang obtained his Bachelor degree (2007) from Southeast University and his Master (2009) and Doctoral Degrees (2013) from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, all in mechanical engineering. His PhD thesis was mainly focused on the vibro-acoustic property of a microperforated panel absorber but this was soon extended to the more general scenario pertinent to the coupling between acoustic and structural systems. In the course of his PhD study, he spent six months at University of Western Australia where he investigated a sound barrier for environmental noise control. After graduation, he stayed at the same institution for three years, during which time he was involved in an aerospace project and his role was to predict and control of the interior noise of a manned spacecraft. In the meantime, he took a part-time job as a noise control specialist, providing noise control solution to a commercial IT product of Huawei Technologies. In 2016, he joined the Advanced Aircraft Noise Technology Center at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and was involved in a project funded by the Innovation and Technology Commission of Hong Kong. In the project, he was responsible for investigating the gap noise, developing an impedance eduction technique and testing the noise attenuation effect of new acoustic liners. Dr. Yang joined Shanghai Jiao Tong University in July 2017. 

 

Research interests:

Duct acoustics, vibro-acoustics problems of thin-walled structures, and innovative noise and vibration control techniques.
